Using the Database

The database is searchable by host institution name and program location. Programs can be filtered by specialty. Programs that did not list participating specialties are marked as "Not Specified." These programs generally refer students to the school's course catalog for elective offerings.

The AAMC defines underrepresented in medicine (URiM) as "those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population" but each program in the database sets its own eligibility criteria. The filter function can be used to search for funding for each group, as detailed in the below key:

  • Disabled = ADA

  • Educationally Disadvantaged = 🎓

  • First Generation = 1️⃣

  • LGBTQ+ = 🌈

  • Racial/Ethnic Minority = 🧑🏻👩🏽👨🏾‍🦱👩🏿

  • Religious Minority = 🤲

  • Socioeconomically Disadvantaged = 💲

  • Woman = ♀

Stipend amounts will vary.
